2026 Sierra Cascades bicycle tour

Update July 17: Changing the finish line to Klamath Falls, OR (see below)

We are doing the thing!

Starting in mid June the end of June we will be riding from Seattle, WA, to Nevada City, CA, including the first three sections of the Adventure Cyclcing Association's Sierra Cascades route, a route that generally parallels the Pacific Crest Trail and which will return us to our place in Nevada City, CA.

If you are interested in following our progress, you can check out our SPOT map📍 or follow our activites on RwGPS or Strava. Reach out to us here if you would like to join us on a portion of the ride, riding bikes with us or meeting up with us along the way.

July 17: Changing the finish line to Klamath Falls, OR

We decided to cut the tour short. Our original plan was to ride back to our place in Nevada City. However, our tour start date was delayed by a couple weeks and we need to be back by 8/10 for a family visit. My current ETA to Nevada City only gives us 2 days of buffer; if we were delayed for any reason then we would miss the family visit. So, we are going to continue riding the Sierra Cascades route through Crater Lake and then deviate to Klamath Falls where there's an Amtrak station. We'll take the train back to Oakland, CA. That should give us about two weeks to get back to Nevada City to prep for the family visit. It is kind of a bummer to shortcut but this will allow us to be more relaxed about riding the McKenzie Pass and Crater lake.
